Mr.Chinnaiah, the owner of this restaurant was born at AMMANKURCHI, a small village in pudukottai district, located in CHETTINADU area in SOUTH INDIA. He had the privilege of serving Dr.M.G.Ramachandran (M.G.R) as head chef for more than TWO DECADES.
AMMA RESTAURANT was the vision of one man's dream-the great Dr.MGR (Ex-cheif minister of Tamil Nadu, and Matinee idol). Due to Chinnaiah's loyalty, sincerity and culinary talents, Dr.MGR aided the opening of a restaurant at the premises of the MLA's Hostel.(Member of legislative assembly).
AMMA RESTAURANT was opened in 1983, and was named after Dr.MGR's wife Mrs.JANAKIAMMAL, who was endearingly called AMMA (which means mother).
